Securities account

This account is used to hold securities. Link it to any bank account you use. Investing this way will allow you to use the PIT relief.

Investment account

A bank account dedicated only to investments and linked to a securities account opened at the same time. If you invest through the investment account, profits will only be taxed when you withdraw from the account a larger amount than you deposited.

Note! The investment account should be additionally declared to the tax authorities when submitting your annual income tax return.

About

  • You can open and use accounts for investing for free.
  • You will be able to trade Baltic stocks via Internet Bank and Swedbank Group fund units for free.
  • You will trade securities in the Baltic, European, US and other markets.
  • Keeping securities of Swedbank Group fund units and other securities (up to EUR 30 000) are free of charge.
  1. Open an investment account in your Internet Bank.
  2. With an investment account, we will automatically open and link a new securities account.
  3. Add funds to your investment account.
  4. Choose the investments you want to make and start investing: buy and sell securities, make exchanges or any other transaction you want.
  5. Receive interest and/or dividends to your investment account. Dividends are considered a deposit into an investment account and are taxed at the time of payout. Interest from bonds is not considered a deposit to the investment account – withdrawals from the investment account exceeding the amount of the deposit are taxed.
  6. Conveniently withdraw funds from your investment account by transferring them to your regular bank account. Only funds withdrawn from the investment account and exceeding the amount of the deposit will be taxed. Costs of trading and safekeeping financial instruments are not considered as withdrawals from the investment account.

More about the investment account
  1. Open a securities account in your Internet Bank.
  2. The securities account will be linked to the bank account of your choice.
  3. Choose the investments you want to make and start investing: buy and sell securities, make exchanges or any other transaction you want.
  4. Receive interest and/or dividends to the bank account of your choice linked to your securities account. Dividends are taxed at the time of payout and interest from bonds is subject to the PIT relief.
  5. Investing through a bank account of your choice will entitle you to the PIT relief – profits not exceeding EUR 500 per year will not be taxed Purchase and sales taxes are considered acquisition costs that reduce taxable income. Keeping fees are not included in these costs.

Spouse's power of attorney

Please note that customers who are married can only dispose of securities (sell, pledge, gift, etc.) if one of the following documents is provided:

  • Power of attorney for the spouse drawn up by Swedbank;
  • Power of attorney, certified by a notary, authorising the customer to dispose of the securities held by the spouses under the joint ownership;
  • Marriage contract registered with the Register of Marriage Settlements and an extract of such register confirming that the securities purchased by the customer after the marriage are held by him/her solely under his/her personal ownership.

The spouse’s power of attorney which entitles Swedbank cng portal at your convenience

  1. Spouse can sign the power of attorney only with a qualified e-signature in the Swedbank internet bank, logged in with: Smart-ID (for more details on how to choose the suitable versions of Smart-ID, see here), Mobile-ID or electronic signature of the personal ID card.
  2. To prepare the power of attorney, the customer's spouse must submit the following to igaliojimai@swedbank.lt:
    the name, surname, ID number and preferred date of expiry of the power of attorney of the spouse to whom the power of attorney to sell the securities is to be given and the spouse who grants the power of attorney.
  3. We will send the prepared power of attorney to the spouse within 3 business days via Internet Bank message.
  4. After reading and accepting the information in the document, the spouse will sign it with a qualified signature within 3 business days. The signed spouse authorization will be uploaded to the banking systems within 1 business day.
  • In order to sign the spouse’s power of attorney in the bank branch, the customer’s spouse must come to the branch.

  • When coming to the branch, it is necessary to bring an identity document with you.

Important! If the marriage is not registered at the Civil Registry Office of the Republic of Lithuania, it is necessary to submit a foreign marriage certificate. If it is required in your case, the marriage certificate must be legalized or have an approval certificate (Apostille). Documents are accepted in Lithuanian, English and Russian languages.

  1. Please fill in the power of attorney (all required fields). Once completed, spouse can sign the power of attorney only with a qualified e-signature: Smart-ID (for more details on how to choose the suitable versions of Smart-ID, see here), Mobile-ID or electronic signature of the personal ID card, using a time stamp in the signing portal at your convenience.

    Important! When signing the power of attorney with an e-signature, make sure you use a secure portal, e. g. Dokobit.

  2. Please send the signed power of attorney to us by email:

    Important! It can take up to 3 working days for the power of attorney to be approved.
  • In order to sign the spouse’s power of attorney in the bank branch, the customer’s spouse must come to the branch.
  • To book your visit at the bank branch, click here.
