To open a bank account online, you must be a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania and at least 18 years of age, who has never been a customer of our bank before (an exception applies to customers who have a user ID but have never had a Swedbank account).

How does it work?

  1. Complete the online application and sign the agreement regarding daily banking services.
  2. Confirm your identity during a video call with a Swedbank consultant. The video call is available on working days: I–IV 08.45–16.45, V 08.45–15.30.
  3. We will review your request within 1-4 working days. You will be notified of the account opening by SMS and email.

You will need:

  • a valid passport or identity card of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania Not permitted documents: drivers license, Residence permit of the Republic of Lithuania, diplomatic passport;
  • qualified means of access: Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or an ID card with a valid e-signature certificate;
  • a computer, smartphone or tablet with a video camera and microphone;
  • a separate room where you can be alone and participate in a video call safely and undisturbed.

In all other cases not mentioned above, you are welcome to open a personal bank account by visiting a bank branch.

You will need to present the following at the bank branch:

  • a valid identity document (passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, identity card or diplomatic passport of the Republic of Lithuania, passport of a citizen of a foreign country, identity card of a citizen of an EU Member State, a citizen of Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland or Switzerland, or a diplomatic passport of the above countries);
  • a document indicating a link to Lithuania (only for foreign nationals or stateless persons).

We will ask you to provide additional information or documents if necessary. Once all the necessary information and/or documents have been provided, we will normally make a decision on the account opening within 10 working days.

We may refuse to enter into business relationships with customers who:

With just a few clicks, you can do this in your Internet Bank. You will be able to use the newly opened additional personal account immediately.

If you already have a bank account but haven't used the Internet Bank or Swedbank app yet, you can access online banking remotely.

  1. Download a free Smart-ID App to your smart phone or tablet from Google Play, App Store or Huawei AppGallery.
  2. After the App is installed, open it and press “Register”. The whole process will take just a few minutes.

For a child, citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, aged 0 to 13 years (inclusive) a parent may open a bank account online, provided that he/she is a customer of Swedbank, has a bank account, has access to the online banking service, and uses a qualified log-in tool Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or a personal identity card with a valid e-signature certificate.

How does it work?

  1. Fill in the application form online to open an account for your child and sign the agreement regarding daily banking services.
  2. We will review your application within 1-4 working days and inform you about the opening of your child's account by SMS and email.

When completing the online application for opening an account, you will also be able to choose for your child to become a participant of the Swedbank Youth Programme, to receive the "Convenient" service plan, and, if he/she is older than 6 years old, a contactless payment card.

For children aged 7 and over with a Lithuanian identity document, you will also be able to create a Smart-ID account remotely.

Open online

In all other cases not mentioned above, you are welcome to open a bank account for a child aged 0 to 13 years (inclusive) by visiting a bank branch.

You will need to present the following at the bank branch:

  • a valid identity document (passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, identity card of the Republic of Lithuania or diplomatic passport, passport of a citizen of a foreign country, identity card of a citizen of an EU Member State or of a citizen of Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, or Switzerland, or a diplomatic passport of the above-mentioned countries), for both yourself and your child (if the child has one);
  • the child's birth certificate, its extract or other proof of guardianship;
  • a document indicating your and/or your child's ties to Lithuania (only for foreign nationals).

In order for your child to become our customer, you will need to complete the Customer Questionnaire for Natural Persons.

We will ask you to provide additional information or documents if necessary. Once all the necessary information and/or documents have been provided, we will normally make a decision on the account opening within 10 working days.

We may refuse to enter into business relationships with customers who:

If your child is aged between 6 and 13 (inclusive), has a bank account, but has not yet used the Internet Bank or Swedbank app, you can order access to the Internet Bank for your child remotely.

  1. Download a free Smart-ID App to the child‘s smart phone or tablet from Google Play, App Store or Huawei AppGallery.
  2. After the App is installed, open it and press “Register”. First of all the child will have to complete all the specified actions of the registration process.
  3. Once your child's document has been successfully verified in the Smart-ID app, you will need to provide your consent as a parent If a child is represented by a guardian(s), Smart-ID account can only be created at a bank branch.. Once the information of the child's representatives has been verified, you will receive an agreement by email, which the parent will need to validate with their Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or ID card with a valid e-signature certificate.
  4. Registration will only take place with the approval of a parent and may be terminated in the event of an excessive delay.

Citizens of the Republic of Lithuania aged 14 or over can open an online account if:

  • they have never been a customer of our bank before;
  • they have a valid personal document issued in Lithuania: passport or ID card;
  • one of their parents or guardian(s) has (have) provided consent allowing the youth to open the account and manage the funds therein independently.

You can open an account on your own at a bank branch if you already have an identity document (passport or ID card) and have the consent of one of your parents or guardian(s).

If you don't have an identity document (passport or ID card), or if your parents or guardians refuse to give you consent, you can only open a bank account if you arrive at a bank branch together with one of your parents or guardian(s).

You will need to present the following at the bank branch:

  • a valid identity document (passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, identity card or diplomatic passport of the Republic of Lithuania, passport of a citizen of a foreign country, identity card of a citizen of an EU Member State, a citizen of Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland or Switzerland, or a diplomatic passport of the above countries);
  • a birth certificate, its extract or other proof of guardianship;
  • a document, indicating links to Lithuania (only for foreign nationals).

We may refuse to enter into business relationships with customers who:

Give consent for a youth to open an account, dispose of funds and enter into other agreements independently can one of his parents or guardian(s).

  • If you are a Swedbank customer, the consent for a youth can be given quickly and easily online.
  • If you are not a Swedbank customer, you can provide your consent for a youth by visiting a bank branch. Please familiarise yourself with the requirements for opening an account for a youth and book a visit to the bank branch of your choice.
  • If you have a bank account but haven’t used the Internet Bank or Swedbank app yet, get consent from one of your parents or guardian(s) and order access to the Internet Bank remotely.
  • If you already have access to the Internet Bank but want to change your transfer limits and user rights, get consent from one of your parents or guardian(s) and make the changes remotely.
Get access online
  1. Download the free Smart-ID app to your smartphone or tablet from Google Play, App Store or Huawei AppGallery.
  2. Install the app, open it and click the "Register" button. You will first need to complete the specified steps in the registration process.
  3. Once your document has been successfully verified in the Smart-ID app, you'll need to get your parent's In the case of guardianship, you can only register a Smart-ID account if you visit a bank branch together with your guardian(s). consent. Once the information of your representatives has been verified, your parents will receive the agreement by email, which will need to be verified by one of them with their Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or ID card with a valid e-signature certificate.
  4. Registration will be subject to confirmation by a parent and may be cancelled in the event of excessive delays.

Account switching service is a service provided to a customer, where the customer’s payment account as well as all related services, such as periodical credit transfers, etc. is/are transferred from one payment service provider to another.

  • Periodical credit transfers (the bank, at your request, will transfer periodical credit transfer agreements concluded with the previous payment service provider).
  • The balance in the account (the old payment service provider will, at your request, transfer the balance in your account with the old payment service provider to the account opened with the new payment service provider’s bank).

You will also be able to receive information about the following:

  • Agreements on automatic payment of e-invoices and requests/applications to receive e-invoices (the old payment service provider will provide the bank with information about agreements signed with you on automatic payment of e-invoices and requests to receive e-invoices).
  • Periodic income (at your request, the bank may provide a list or payers that periodically transfer money to you and/or may notify the payers about the change in the account or provide you with a sample application form for notification of the third parties about changes in the account).
  • SEPA direct debit (in case where the service is provided in the bank, the bank, at your request, may be provide a list of SEPA direct debit recipients and/or notify the beneficiaries about the change in the account or provide you with a sample application form for notification of the third parties of the changes in the account).
  • The Bank will help you carry out the procedure of account transfer. This procedure will be provided free of charge.
  • Visit any Swedbank customer service office and complete an documentapplication form requesting to provide you with an account transfer services. If you wish to transfer an account of joint owners from another payment service provider, the bank must be provided with a request from each joint owner to transfer the account from another payment service provider

Services will be transferred no earlier than within 13 bank business days from your request to provide you with an account transfer services, i.e.:

  • The Bank will forward your request to transfer the account to the old payment service provider within 2 bank business days.
  • The old payment service provider will no later than within 5 business days from the receipt of the aforementioned request notify the bank about the services it renders to you and the services that might be transferred, it will terminate the provision of services from the date specified in the request, will transfer the balance and close the account, if it is provided in your request.
  • Having received information from the old payment service provider, the Bank will, within 5 bank business days or from the date specified in your request start providing the transferred services, will send off letters to payers and/or beneficiaries, if this is specified in your request.

Please be aware that the Bank will charge a fee specified in the Bank’s price list for services and transactions for sending notifications to payers and/or beneficiaries by registered mail (if indicated in your request). You can find the fees charged for banking services and transactions here.

It is important that you know that you can lodge a claim regarding the Bank’s actions when providing you with the account transfer services. If you are discontent with the Bank’s response, you have the right to address the court in accordance with the procedure established in laws as well as to apply to the institution that examines consumers and finance market participants’ disputes out of court, namely, the Bank of Lithuania, address Žalgirio g. 90, LT-09303 Vilnius, within 1 (one) year from the date of address to the Bank. If you are a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania at least 18 years old and have never been identified by Swedbank before, you can confirm your identity remotely and become:
  • Private customer‘s additional Internet Bank user;
  • Corporate customer‘s additional Internet Bank user.

You will need:

  • a valid passport or identity card of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania;
  • Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or an ID card with a valid e-signature certificate;
  • a smartphone, tablet or computer with a video camera and microphone;
  • a separate room where you can be alone and participate in a video call safely and undisturbed.

When card transaction is made in currency other than euro (including a cash-out with a card), conversion to euro is being calculated using „Mastercard International“ currency exchange rate at transaction processing day and increasing the amount by value stated in the pricelist. Conditions for applying the fees:

  1. A fee is applied at the card issuance branch when issuing a new, renewed, or replaced card or upon the customer’s request. The fee will be deducted upon card activation, regardless of whether the card is included in the service plano.
  2. Fee is debited when activating new, renewed or replaced debit card (if the card is not included in the service plan). Renewed debit card can be sent by post without separate customer request by Swedbank decision
  3. For urgent card delivery, standard card issuing fee by post applies additionally (if card is not added into service plan), or card issuing fee at the branch, depending on chosen method of card delivery.
  4. The card will be delivered to the bank's branch or to the address indicated by the customer in Lithuania by a courier:
    • on the next working day, if the card was ordered before 1:00 p.m.;
    • within two working days, if the card was ordered after 1:00 p.m.
  5. The fee for cash withdrawals from ATMs and other locations where this service is provided will be deducted on the 15th day of the next month.
  6. When card transaction is made in currency other than euro (including a cash-out with a card) above 10.000 Eur/mo, conversion to euro is being calculated using „Mastercard International“ currency exchange rate at transaction processing day and increasing the amount by value stated (2,45%).   1. The terms used in the fees shall have the meaning assigned to them in Swedbank Service and Operation Fees.
  2. At one time you may have chosen only one service plan. You can select, change, or cancel a service plan by submitting a request to the Bank. If you cancel a selected service plan, the standard Swedbank Service and Operation Fees will be applied, unless you select another service plan. By selecting another service plan, you are considered to have cancelled the previous service plan.
  3. The fee will be charged for each calendar month and debited between the 1st and 15th of the next month for the previous month. The fee is charged regardless of your use of the services included in the service plan. For the first month you have the service plan and the last month you cancel it, the monthly fee will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, proportional to the number of days you had the plan.
  4. The fee for issuing a debit card by post is not applied when issuing a new, renewed, or replacement card due to loss, theft, or at the customer's request. A renewed card may be sent by post at our discretion, without a separate request from you.
  5. The service plan includes a contactless "Debit Mastercard" card. The customer’s debit card included in the service plan shall not be eligible for any other discounts unless we specify otherwise.
  6. Insurance services are included only in the Standard service plan. The insurance services are provided by Swedbank P&C Insurance AS, in Lithuania acting through its Lithuanian branch. Detailed information about the insurance services included in the Standard service plan is published on the Bank's website and at the Bank's branches.
  7. The standard Swedbank Service and Operation Fees are applied to services not included in the service plan.
  8. Information about the BANKOMATAS.LT ATM network can be found at www.bankomatas.lt.

Conditions applicable only to the “Basic Payment Account Service” service plan:

  1. It is not mandatory to purchase additional services to use the "Basic Payment Account Service" plan.
  2. The “Basic Payment Account Service“ plan is applied to one customer-chosen account in the Bank. The standard Swedbank Service and Operation Fees are applied to other customer accounts.
  3. Customers who have subscribed to the “Basic Payment Account Service” plan and are entitled to social assistance as deprived persons under the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on Monetary Support for Deprived Citizens (hereinafter referred to as the “Law”) are charged a monthly fee of EUR 0.50. Customers who are no longer considered entitled to social assistance as deprived persons under the Law will be charged a monthly fee of EUR 1.00.
  4. After exceeding 15 payments per month, the standard Swedbank Service and Operation Fees apply.
  5. If a customer does not have a smart device and/or requests it, a PIN generator can be issued instead of Smart-ID free of charge.
  6. The customer can refuse the “Basic Payment Account Service” plan at any time.

Terms and conditions for service plan fees:

  1. The terms used in these fees shall have the same meaning as the corresponding terms used in Swedbank Service and Operation Fees.
  2. The Basic service plan for salary receivers may be ordered if you receive your salary into a Swedbank bank account. Salary is considered to include: salary, income received under author's or other contracts, and other regular income.
  3. You may only have one service plan chosen at any one time. You can select, change, or cancel a service plan by submitting a request to the Bank.
  4. If, after ordering the Basic service plan for salary receivers, the salary is not transferred for 3 consecutive months, the provision of this service plan will be terminated from the following month. When the Basic service plan for salary receivers is no longer provided, or if you cancel the selected service plan, the standard Swedbank Service and Operation Fees will be applied.
  5. The service plan monthly fee will be charged for each calendar month and debited between the 1st and 15th of the next calendar month for the previous month. The fee is charged regardless of your use of the services included in the service plan. For the first month you have the service plan and the last month you cancel it, the monthly fee will be calculated pro-rata, proportional to the number of days the conditions of the selected service plan were applied to you.

  3. When you lose your Youth Programme participant status upon reaching the maximum permitted age for a Youth Programme participant, we will assign you the Standard service plan. This plan will be provided to you at a special price for the period specified by the Bank. You have the right to choose another service plan offered by the Bank, including the Basic Payment Account Service.
  4. The Youth Programme plan "Four+" cannot be selected. The monthly fee for this plan is charged for each calendar month and debited between the 1st and 15th of the next calendar month for the previous month. The fee is charged regardless of your use of the services included in the service plan.
