Your code card will become a souvenir

As of 1 September 2019, code cards used to login to the Internet bank and confirm payment orders and other banking operations will no longer be used. This means that as of the above date code cards will expire and they cannot be used to login or confirm banking operations.

We also pay your attention to the fact that the functionality of the code card will be limited gradually. The first of them - from this year December 3 you will not be able to connect to a “Swedbank” mobile app with code card. The other possible restrictions on the use of card codes in the notification shall be no later than two months in advance.

We have taken measures in order to assure that these changes do not cause any inconveniences for you, and we encourage you to start using a smart and free-of-charge login tool “Smart-ID”.

These changes take into account the significant increase in the use of e-banking by customers and the associated need to use only the most up-to-date and secure security standards for customer identification. A further focus on this area is the introduction of higher security requirements in the Payment Services Directive (2015/2366), which will enter into force next September. At present, using part of the code cards, additional SMS codes need to be confirmed, making the process longer and less convenient. In order to ensure that the code cards in the future provide the security level we want, additional security solutions should be introduced that would make complications and prolongation of connection and approval of operations even more difficult.
