Secure internet shopping

Enable online payments for card to be able to pay for purchases at online stores!

The online payments feature must be enabled for each card separately.

How to pay by card at online stores

  1. Cardholder’s full name
  2. Card number
  3. Card expiry date
  4. Card’s CVV/CVC code
* Debit / Credit designation on the front side of the card will help you understand what type of card you have: “Debit” meaning debit card and “Credit” - credit card

Before confirming the purchase, check if the details and value of the purchase are stated accurately on the merchant’s page.

! We recommend shopping at stores with websites bearing the Mastercard SecureCode and/or Verified by Visa logotypes which denote a secure purchase system.

The purchase involves additional steps described in step 3.

If the merchant has joined the Mastercard SecureCode and/or Verified by Visa system, then for extra safety the purchase will need to be verified via Swedbank Internet Banking.

The purchase has gone through and no further action is required.

If the store’s website doesn’t have the Mastercard SecureCode and/or Verified by Visa logo, then additional verification via Swedbank Internet Banking is not required.

  1. Check if the security message is correct and click „Continue”
  2. Log on Internet Banking by entering your user ID and confirm with Smart ID, PIN generator or Mobile ID.
  3. After confirming the purchase you will be redirected back to the merchant’s website
  • Internet shopping feature may be not enabled for the card
  • The account lacks sufficient funds
  • The card’s purchase transaction limit may be too low
  • The card has expired (see the expiry date on front of the card)
  • It may be due to restrictions set by the merchant (e.g. cards of a specific type or cards issued in a specific country are not accepted)
  • We want to make online shopping safer for you. That’s why the internet shopping option must be activated in case of each MasterCard and Visa cards that have been issued by Swedbank and are used to make purchases online.
  • Before you make a purchase online, make sure the store is safe.
  • Try to find out more information about merchant. Every website should have information about the name and location of the company and the e-mail address and telephone number to use should you have any problems. There should also be information about deliveries and returns, the procedure for submitting complaints as well as warranty terms and conditions. Don’t fall in to discounts at merchants that seems to be too unrealistic.
  • Use a welcome text in the Internet shopping programme that is as personalised as possible. Every time you make a purchase online, ensure that the welcome text is the same as the one you set when you signed up to the programme.
  • If you only rarely make purchases online using your bank card, we advise you to activate the Internet shopping option only for the moment of making the purchase.

FAQ

  • If your card is issued to another person’s or company’s account, to enable internet shopping , you need to turn to the account holder/company representative.
  • In the case of supplementary cards, the cardholder must have an active Swedbank user ID. If not, contact the bank for further instructions.

Cardholder must enter own Swedbank username or code.

If a username or code is entered incorrectly over maximum allowed number of tries, Swedbank blocks the user account in the Internet Bank. Contact the bank for further instructions.

Merchants who have joined the programme will have the MasterCard SecureCode and/or Verified by Visa logos in their online stores
