Hansabank earned a top-rated status in Global Custodian's 2004 Emerging Markets Survey. Hansabank was also the only bank to receive ratings in Latvia and Lithuania, making Hansabank Group the only internationally rated custody provider in the Baltic region.
Global Custodian magazine: "It is clear that Hansabank is now the provider of first choice in the Baltic region." With stable progress in all areas, Hansabank improved its Estonian rating by one level to the highest possible and is the only bank to receive a rating on custody operations in the country. In the other two countries, Latvia and Lithuania, Hansabank received a rating for the first time and is also the only bank to be rated by the survey. In both countries Hansabank received grades enough to warrant a top rating, but according to the longstanding rule of the survey a bank cannot ascend more than one category a year.
Global Custodian is the leading magazine covering the international securities services business and its annual surveys have become benchmarks for the industry. With the survey, customers can evaluate both the providers' commitment to the business and the quality of its services. The 2004 emerging markets survey covered 57 different markets with a total of 4300 respondents. Hansabank is the only local custody service provider to receive this rating in the Baltic countries.
