Hansabankas awarded Vilnius, Kaunas and Silute high school pupils, who proved to be the best bank managers.
Hansabankas-arranged contest for managing banks in the PC modeled bank markets witnessed how participants created business plans and worked out proposals concerning advertising and promoting of "one's bank" and its services.
"Competition of banks" is a PC model that creates possibilities for managing commercial banks in the stiff competition environment. Special PC programs allowed the participants to become CEOs of commercial retail banks and test their abilities to efficiently manage their banks. Winners were those, whose banks' profit performance proved to be the highest one.
"It is a real pleasure to see young people being interested in the banking business. I believe they will join Lithuanian banks one day and deliver good performance by employing all their skills and knowledge acquired during this contest", - says Giedrius Dusevicius, Chairman of Board of Hansabankas.
This year's contest attracted 84 teams from 34 schools in 19 cities and towns. All in all, 279 schoolchildren from all over Lithuania participated in this event.
Parallel to this event, a competition for higher school students was going on too. It attracted 43 student teams from 10 higher schools, including Lithuanian students from Latvian and Irish universities.
All these events were under the project launched jointly by Hansabankas and "Lietuvos Junior Achievement". It aims at acquainting of Lithuanian pupils with market economy and its laws, importance of business ethics, activity of modern financial institutions, promoting banking business and strengthening banks image among young people. The use of game elements facilitated deepening of young people's interest in commercial banks activities, their services and products and business principles.
During this project, pupils' excursions into the Bank were organized and a number of bankers delivered lectures at high schools. All in all, around 400 schoolchildren from all Lithuania have visited Hansabankas since autumn of 2004, when this educational project was launched.
"Lietuvos Junior Achievement" is a non-profit organization that aims at raising young people in the free market's spirit, educating and training them to understand business and economy, take initiatives, foster entrepreneurship and leadership qualities.
