The Project "Live All Your Life" initiated by "Hansabankas" Group aimed at the pension reform reached its peak. The winner of the tender – the sculpture "Carousel" created by Marius Zavadskis was erected and opened in the European Park of Sculptures. Out of numerous works presented for the tender by young artists, the sculpture created by M. Zavadskis was the best in conveying its idea of this tender and giving the meaning to the theme "Live All Your Life". Construction of the sculpture "Carousel" was financed by "Hansabankas".
The Project "Live All Your Life" was opened in 2004 to draw attention of the public to the newly launched pension reform and to assess its importance. This artistic – social project was aimed at encouraging the Lithuanian residents to think about future more positively and also more responsibly, to be more active in developing their future plans. When announcing the tender of sculptures to mark the pension reform "Hansabankas" also wanted to encourage young Lithuanian artists to realise their ideas.
A modern and playful sculpture by Marius Zavadskis is also a carousel – side-show. The sculpture is interactive – every visitor can try it by himself. A green steel circle of almost 4 metres height and over 2 tons weight has been assembled in the manner which allows to climb on it and to swing like on a merry-go-round for children.
"The pension reform was started exactly two years ago and by now already 57 per cent of people insured with "Sodra" have participated in it. By initiating the Project "Live All Your Life" "Hansabankas" intended to give meaning to this phenomenon, to emphasize its value for coming generations. We hope that the sculpture "Carousel" will become a symbol of the pension reform," – said Giedrius Dusevičius, "Hansabankas" Board Chairman.
"We are glad that economic- social processes of the state influence the birth of artistic works. The pension reform was a prominent event in the life of our country. This carousel will remind us of its beginning", said Vilija Blinkevičiūtė, the Minister of Social Security and Labour, who attended the presentation of the sculpture. According to her, the interactive carousel perfectly reflects the essence of the pension reform – the more people participated in it, the more speed it gained in turning round and started operating in practice.
"A brisk motto "Live All Your Life" has never been more urgent and important than today. Dramatically tense rhythm of life, dynamic environment, daily flow of information, stresses and frustrations, vague future perspectives have become an ordinary routine for many of us", - writes M.Zavadskis, the author of the sculpture in the presentation of his idea. The author hopes that "Maybe art might succeed in positively influencing such a situation".
"Hansabankas" awarded the winner M. Zavadskis a premium of LTL 10 thousand and allocated LTL 40 thousand for the implementation of the sculpture. The authors of the best tender projects selected to the second round of the tender - E.Pauza, S.Dūda, M.Martišius and M.Zavadskis - received incentive premiums of "Hansabankas" in the amount of LTL 500.
"Hansabankas" belongs to the largest group of financial services in the Baltic States -"Hansabank", whose strategic investor is the Swedish Bank "Swedbank".
