Prestigious journal "The Banker" recognised "Hansabankas" as 2005 TOP Bank of Lithuania

The prestigious journal "The Banker" (issued by "Financial Time Business") announces the results of the Top world banks listing in its September issue. This financial publication recognised "Hansabankas" as the 2005 Top Bank in Lithuania. On 16 September "Hansabankas" Board Chairman Giedrius Dusevičius will be granted the award together with other managers of Top World Banks in London.

Awards to Top Banks of each country are granted for financial performance and growth of the previous year and also for technological and strategic achievements. "The Bank's recognition as the Top Bank in a particular country means that we consider this bank as being the best not only according to its performance, but also in terms of its qualitative developments", - says "The Banker" in its Press Release.

510 financial institutions from 138 countries participated in the listing of Top Banks. The winners will receive prestigious "Bracken" awards named in honour of Brendan Bracken, "The Banker's" founder (the journal was founded in 1926) and of the current President of "Financial Times". "Hansabankas" will receive "The Banker's" award for the first time.

"Recently "Hansabankas" has been paying great attention to increasing its efficiency and volumes of activities and succeeded in raising its profits by almost 53 per cent, while its return on capital last year reached 16 per cent", - describes the prestigious journal "The Banker" the achievements of "Hansabankas" in the area of financial performance. Experts of this journal also took notice of "Hansabankas" orientation towards electronic banking and its efforts in offering the clients the one-stop-shop services.

"Hansabankas" succeeded in increasing the number of electronic transactions from 66 to 76 per cent (out of all transactions carried out in the Bank), which partly conditioned good efficiency results", - says "The Banker's" Press Release. "Moreover, during the past years "Hansabankas" integrated its subsidiaries into one group with a view to offering its customers a wide spectrum of one-stop-shop financial services", - noted "The Banker".
