“Hansabankas” money-box competition encourages children to learn financial management and to do good jobs

"Hansabankas" is organising the eighths money-box competition which has already become traditional for children and pupils. All Lithuanian children are invited to design money-boxes and bring them to "Hansabankas" branches. This competition of "Hansabankas" is aimed at encouraging the creativity of children and at developing financial management skills since early childhood.
The theme of this year’s competition is "The Money-box of Good Jobs". Children are invited to make money-boxes in which all good jobs of children or even of the whole world would go in. The competition is open for children aged 6-12. Money-boxes made by them are accepted in "Hansabankas" branches between 19 September and 10 October (addresses of branches welcoming children’s works are announced at www.hansa.lt).
The author of the most inventive money-box will be announced on 27 November and will be awarded the main prize of the competition "The Money-box of Good Jobs" – a personal computer.
The objective of "Hansabankas" competition of money-boxes is to encourage the children’s creativity and to develop their understanding that money should be handled with due responsibility. The theme of this competition, i.e. "The Money-box of Good Jobs" should attract the children’s attention to social standards of good conduct, or, to put it simply, to what is called good jobs. Good jobs stored in a money-boxes should make happy not only their creators, but their families and relatives too," – said "Hansabankas" Marketing and Public Relations Department Director Asta Margevičienė.
According to her, this year’s money-box competition should also stimulate children and pupils to realize their creativity, to encourage their participation in settling daily "financial issues" together with their family.
Requirements for money-boxes are simple – they must be strong, long-keeping and of maximum 30x30x30 cm size. Materials to be used for money-boxes, their forms and additional functions depend upon resourcefulness and originality of young creators.
The competition "The Money-box of Good Jobs" will be organised in several stages. Works will be evaluated in two age groups of 6-9 and 10-12 years. Best works selected by the competent commission in the beginning of November will be sent to "Hansabankas" head office in Vilnius, where they will be demonstrated for several weeks. At the decoration ceremony pending on 27 November in Vilnius "Keistuoliai theatre" the most inventive authors of money-boxes will be awarded prizes. Moreover, every participant of the competition bringing a money-box will also receive a symbolic participant’s prize.
