Opening a Bank Account
Opening of a bank account is the first step towards a successful cooperation in the future. Holding of a bank account with Swedbank provides you with convenient means of handling financial affairs of your Company, applying for financing, investing free funds and making use of other services and products offered by the Bank.
What are the advantages of holding a bank account with Swedbank?
- To credit/top-up your bank account in cash or by transfer and receive cash over-the-counter at any Swedbank office or via ATM.
- To accept and carry out payment orders and draw up additional account agreements via the internet bank, Mobile Bank, Swedbank Electronic Banking Programme for Business Clients and Banking by Phone 1633 facilities.
- To learn of your account balance and history of the transactions effected via the account.
- To open several accounts under the same chosen currency or keep in your bank account funds denominated in all currencies that are operated by the Bank.
- To choose a currency in which your bank account is to be denominated. As a result you, as an accountholder, will enjoy a possibility of the automatic translation of other currencies into a currency indicated by you under funds transfer operations.
- To receive the pre-set interest on the bank account balance. As a result you, as an accountholder, will enjoy monthly inflows of the interest onto your bank account.
- The interest on your bank account balance is set to be accounted on a monthly basis.

Who may hold bank accounts with Swedbank?
Legal persons may open and hold bank accounts with Swedbank.
How to open a bank account?
You are expected to visit your nearest bank office, complete an account application form and submit a card containing the signature and company stamp samples.
For Legal persons registered outside Lithuania bank accounts are opened at Regional Branches only.
To open a bank account the following documents are required:
If bank accounts are being opened by companies incorporated in Lithuania:
- legal persons incorporated in Lithuania;

Legal persons registered in Lithuania:
- a pro-forma application for opening of a bank account (to be filled in at a bank office);
- card of signature and stamp samples (to be filled in at a bank office);
- a registration certificate or its certified copy;
- by-laws (Statute or Regulations) or their certified copy;
- a document (or its certified copy) proving CEO's appointment of election;
- we will ask certain state institutions to provide the Bank with their higher bodies' (if any) permits for opening of budget account;
- authorized persons are supposed to have valid passports and documents proving their empowerment and the company's stamp.
- real and trust economic partnerships;

Real and trust partnerships registered in Lithuania:
- a pro-forma application for opening of a bank account (to be filled in at a bank office);
- card of signature and stamp samples (to be filled in at a bank office);
- certificate of registration or its certified copy;
- agreement on the joint activity or its certified copy;
- certificate on the registration of the economic entity with a territorial tax inspection;
- the authorized persons are expected to have valid passports, powers of attorney and company stamps.
- sole traders;

Sole traders registered in Lithuania:
- a pro-forma application for opening of a bank account (to be filled in at a bank office);
- card of signature and stamp samples (to be filled in at a bank office);
- a registration certificate or its certified copy;
- certificate on the registration of the economic entity with a territorial tax inspection;
- the owner is expected to have a valid passport or other ID papers including the company's stamp (if any). If an authorized person opens a bank account, a power of attorney must be submitted too alongside with the company's by-laws, which are required to specify that a given company is run by a different person.
- from start-up companies whose articles of incorporation are to be registered soon.

Start-up companies and closed joint-stock companies whose by-laws are to be registered soon:
- a pro-forma application for opening of a bank account (to be filled in at a bank office);
- company incorporation agreement (act) or its notary-certified copy);
- the power of attorney issued by the founder for opening of an accumulation account in the absence of the indication in the company incorporation agreement or act of a person being granted with the right to open an accumulation account in question;
- passport or other ID papers of the authorized person.
If bank accounts are being opened by companies registered outside Lithuania:
- embassies and consulates;

- certificate on registration of an economic entity with the local/territorial tax inspection body;
- an official letter (or its certified copy) from Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Ministry with a special code assigned;
- documents in Lithuanian language proving the ambassador's/consul's appointment;
- by-laws (regulations) if any.
- legal persons registered outside Lithuania and off-shore companies;

- legal entities', not registered in Lithuania, whose representative offices are operating in Lithuania.
